Music lovers - Trance, techno, etc
Are there any other electronic music lovers other than myself currently residing at The Ville?
or in general what are your tastes in music?

Re: Music lovers - Trance, techno, etc
I am a fan of electronic music, not a devoted fan. I like it for a change of pace and I prefer people such as Darude, some of Paul Oakenfolds live stuff such as when he did a session in havana and one in london from 99 (like 3-4 hour sessions which are good while doing work), Kai Tracid, DJ Tiesto, DJ FBI, DJ Trashy, Four Strings, and a few others. I tend to lean more towards the House/Trance side of things and avoid more of the hardcore electronic music because I prefer the smoother more mellow stuff in trance with vocals or without. House is nice if done by the right people such as Paul Oakenfold.

I love electronic music! I don't know what to call much of it, as I'm noob to it, but I love this site:
http://www.gruvsonic.com/harddance.html
I really like the hardcore dance stuff, its spiffy.

I like electronic music. I am currently looping Daft Punk's Alive album (their live one) its great. I love Paul Oakenfold, Darude, Timo Mass, Tiesto, DJ Irene, all sorts of other ones, DJ Doboy(Doboi?) has a lot of looong mixes that I listen to. Tim Headley also has a lot of cool mixes.
If you really do enjoy this type of music, I suggest www.di.fm
enjoy
(p.s. you call that dancing Carrot?) :-p

I grew up on Jean Michel Jarre - a god amongst electronic musicians....

My biggest wish as a kid was to own a Yamaha DX7 keyboard, but could never afford it....so later in life I have a Korg Triton and seriously desire/need the new Korg M3.....
These days, I'm into Balearic Bill, Sash!, John Digweed, Paul Oakenfold, Pete Tong's mixes, orbital, william orbit, and Faithless......

sorry for the double post but, I just wanted to say, after watching that video, sometimes I feel a bit left out to have grown up in the States. It seems like the rest of the worlds, Europe's especially, view of electronic music is a bit different than here. There are some sweet American groups, but I feel it hasn't really taken hold yet. I was absolutely blown away by that video Dog. Mad respect to Jean Michel Jarre. I had never heard of him until now I shall surf the youtube until I can find more.

A few months ago, I was REALLY into Trance and it's variants (Psych is phenomenal)... and I stumbled upon a forum where people share their mixes. Some fantastic stuff comes from http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/
(Particularly DJ Promotion, which is where they post their huge hour-long mixes.)
When I was at work, I started listening to one dude's 5 hour New Years Day trancemix.
Deelicious.
But lately, I've been real big into Aggrotech.. things like Panzer AG, Combichrist, X-Fusion, Psyclon 9, Suicide Commando, Grendel, Tactical Sekt..
Kinda angry..ish.. but soo awesome.

i don't realyl liek to label music, and i'm really bad at doing so anyways. but one of the bands i've been listening to a bit recently ( and playing on audiosurf) is M83
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... D=39437318
their page says they are Rock/pop/shoegaze
so not true electronic styles... but i must say that don't save us from the flames is a very fun audiosurf song
as i look at their last.fm bio i guess it says on there they are electronic

Re: Music lovers - Trance, techno, etc
For those of you that have never heard of Jean Michel Jarre, he was at the forefront of electronic music during the seventies and eighties. He was the first Westerner to play in communist China and also has the record for the most audience at a concert ... 3.5 million.
This is probably his most famous song....performed live in Brussels
Oxygene IV

If you like old synths, watch this....so cool! Jarre explains his setup.....a LOT of synths, moogs, arps, modular synths and awesome stuff....including a Mellotron!

I used to play around on my dads dx7 as a kid. I think he still has it, but he has a newer one he bought a couple of years ago. It is set up in his basement next his best friend's base amp and my mapex drum set that I am loaning him that another guy uses, as long as he replaces the heads if they get worn out. I guess they meet and jam on weekends sometimes.
Have any of you guys heard of karsten koch or infected mushroom?
