With T packing a hot new system, we've dusted off our speedrun plans and are back at it. We tied 4 records in the last 2 days, and broke one tonight.

This is a good point. You need to ensure that your fellow players don't drag your time down and order us SATA III SSDs as well.

It seems like people don't do Speed Runs anymore. I tried to get one going the other day and aside from going poorly, most people didn't understand the concept.

Aye, agreed. Speed runs are great practice, really, because they're pretty much what people ought to be doing in versus. Have been in a couple games recently where they were blow-outs, not because of a skill difference, but because one team was exploring and poking about when they should have been running. My favorite games are the ones where both teams are going full tilt from start to finish.

The principle is really easy! Get from point A to point B absolutely as fast as possible. Do nothing that won't contribute to reducing your time.

The pre-requisites of a good speed run are:
1) Knowledge of the map. If you haven't memorized the map, go do so.
2) A solid system. Load time matters in a speed run.
3) A willingness to take damage, and ability to ignore distractions.

I love speed running - would be happy to join some when I'm back home after this trip.

I've done one speed run with Alizee and company. What a rush! I knew I was by far the worst player (fairly new to the game, Al had just given me the low down on what the weapons all were and what they did) and my goal was just to keep up and listen to instructions. It was great until we had to get across the bridge, which I hate, and the hordes were slowing me down. Still made it though. One of the few times in fact.

Baron Ohm is another good speed run guy. When weve done vs, he is always rushing to the safehouse. When I get back to the mainland and real internet, I might join you Al for another run

Ok so Domer, King, Perfect Villian, and I did another speed run the other night. It's not a record but 20 minutes on Parish is still pretty good for people who haven't done it before/much.

Yes, and it was surprisingly fun! Considering that I've never really played L4D2 other than vs. mode, I was pleasantly surprised how well we were able to do. I'm interested in trying more runs in the future.
