All Speak vs. Team Speak

Post by Jazzman » Tue Aug 30, 2011 9:52 pm

Short time player but huge fan of the mod, well done. One question, have you considered making the server team speak instead of all speak? I know that could get a bit lonely for the human playing zomibe if there is only one of them (or a few that are quiet) but it sorta ruins one of the most fun aspects of the game, the teamwork. Was playing tonight and we were all working together great, talking. As soon as a human switched to zombie we all sorta shut up because we know he can hear our strategy.

Thoughts?

I have never found that it matters if the human zombies can hear or not. Mostly because verbally setting up a capture is about helping less-experienced Allied players figure out strategy and tactics. For example - I know that when the more experienced players are setting up a capture, they are going to need one person to go intercept the human zombies. Usually, one or two of us will split off and do that while the newer guys cap the flag.

Or, if the newer guys are pushing forward, one of us hangs back to provide defense from human zombies who like to capture flags behind the main front. :)

Once you get accustomed to what your teammates do, you can help them without having to talk about it.

I rather have it on. It's more fun to be able to talk to the opposition and maybe even taunt them :]

I also believe that it adds a sense of community. Remember there is always team chat to communicate a strategy.

Taunting? Never! :)

Encouraging the opposition to greater effort. :P

Or, daring them to try and take a flag I'm defending.

I usually avoid the flag you're capping. I seem to live longer :]

Well I guess I'm just more into the strategy than most here. Totally understand the "community" aspect as that is cool but to me it just really kills the gameplay. Was just playing on a team with 3 human zombies and no one said a peep. The map before there were no zombies (not enough players) and everyone was chatting up strategy like crazy.

Oh well, suppose I'll just basically play solo then....

I don't know how the Team Chat vs All Speak works but would it be possible to have a button for both like we do with the keyboard chatting? Probably not or it would have been done but in a perfect world...it would make everyone happy.

The Admins can turn alltalk on and off.

A vote could be initiated and alltalk turned off if it won. It lasts for the round only. :)

Bring it up the next time that myself, VOC, Dog or another Admin are on.
