Not see smoke/fire

due to my old pc i get a very heavy lag when there is alot of activity near me such as fire smoke and that so what i was thinking if its possible to have away that i can switch off seeing these things (obviously still suffer the effects) as when i standing there with fire near me smoke nades going off and a few people firing off there weapons i get so lagged that all i can do is just stand there with my finger on the trigger till i die hoping that i actually manage to kill something that isnt a member of the same team
