Account disabled whilst playing left4dod

Hi guys,

My apologies I had posted this in an earlier thread but on second thoughts it might warrant its own thread.

I was on your Aussie left4dod server today (very cool and lots of fun) and was afk for a few minutes - when I came back on line I found that I had been kicked from the server and when I went back to connect got a message from Steam that my account had been disabled. (It might have said that when I came back from being AFK, I'm not entirely sure.)

I can't tell if the account has been hijacked or if VAC has mistakenly picked up something? (The guys & gals at |{sCr}| can vouch for my bona fides' e.g. Snowy, Meekster, Alfie, etc.)

Anyway, I've put in a request to steam but was wondering if you had had similar problems lately?

When I hear something back from Steam I'll post it in this forum.

No idea.
It wouldn't be anything to do with the server.
Haven't seen anything like this.

All you can do is check with Steam

Oh well, I'll wait and see what valve have to say in their infinite wisdom.

Well my account has been restored once I verified my purchases with Valve but they couldn't really shed any light on what caused the problem - here is the correspondence:

Hello David,

We recently detected suspicious activity related to this account.

In order to protect the account holder and the associated software, the account was disabled until we could verify ownership.

You should now be able to log-in to the account.

If you have any further questions, please let us know.

Thanks for this, much appreciated & my log-on is working fine.

With respect to the suspicious activity can you please provide a bit more information - I would be interested to know what happened and if there is anything I can do to prevent a recurrence of the problem?

So, not really any the wiser because I can't recall any transactions where I might have been vulnerable to an attack. Very frustrating.

At least my account has been restored and I can go back to playing on the Left4DoD server - way too much fun.
