I'm glad everyone enjoys it. Now to go run and find some regular DOD:S

Regular DoDS has received no love from VALVe for the past 5 years.MrBlah wrote:I'm glad everyone enjoys it. Now to go run and find some regular DOD:S
From a game that was release half-completed, it's a shadow of its former self. No Brits, no extra weapons etc.
It still has a loyal following, but with all the other FPS games out there, who wants to play DoDS?
So any mod is always going to be better than DoDS, not just Left4DoD.
DoDS died out here on September 2007....
Re: New Southern Hemisphere server
sad to hear dod, australia might be a bit slow on the dying date cause there are at least five or so dod clans out here.. but many of us normally say its on its way out with all the new games out there...

Reserved Slots coming soon.
The hosting company agreed to the two extensions, so joining the Left4DoD Steam group will now give you more ammo!

Re: New Southern Hemisphere server
Reserved slots should now be working.
Type 'connect 203.217.24.60:27015'
and it will bump someone off and keep the slot open.

Re: New Southern Hemisphere server
Yeah dods has been crapped on for years.
But whilst on topic for the die hard day of defeat fans, a new mod will be getting released called V For Victory Mod . This will bring back the brits, some old maps etc... And gameplay and recoils made like 1.3 was. I believe this will be the only future for dod in general, as valve has most surly given up on the mod.

I loved Dad's Army as a kid. Pike was my favourite!
Anyway, FF will go on once the server has settled.

Re: New Southern Hemisphere server
Ok, so there is a new A-NZ server, but please let's not bring in the parochialism about 'the rules' that seems to be the norm on some of the Aus DODS servers into The Ville.
Last night, one of the international Left4DOD regulars was vote kicked from XI server for shooting out of spawn, by people whinging about 'the rules' and how you can't shoot out of spawn. I made a noise about this at the time and was told that this was 'not within the rules' and that my 'opinion was not wanted'.
Guess what, read the rules
So what happened here is one of the international regulars who happened to be playing within the rules got vote kicked out, because some people got carried away with 'the rules'.
What happens where more and more internationals find their way onto XI server, many of whom don't speak English well or not al all? Let's just save the particularities and parochialism of the Aus DODS servers for those servers, live and let live and just get on with Left4DOD as it is meant to be - a great game that brings in people from all over the world to play on an interesting mod that allows for some great game play. Please lets just get on with the game and enjoy it for what it is - fast, fluid and dynamic game play.

- you can't shoot into spawn, but you can shoot out of it. This is normal Left4DOD play.2. Spawn camping is not allowed
While it may be fun for you to sit outside enemy spawn and shoot/nade in, it isn't fun for the other players trying to get out of spawn..
If you find yourself around enemy spawn, either capture the target or move on.

Re: New Southern Hemisphere server
There's nothing wrong with shooting out of spawn.
Spawn camping to rack up kills is forbidden. People who spawn camp and do not cap flags will be removed...
