Bots

Well, I've been working hard on my bots.
I have completely rewritten the code and it's scary what they can do now.
They can chase you through doors, up stairs, through archways.
If they see you upstairs in a building, they will try and work out a way up there.

The reason is, I want DoD:S bots for the new CS-DoD plugin, which is nearly complete.

When I get a chance, I will convert the bot code over to L4DoD....it's gonna be a slaughter

Dog,

If your refering to Bots on the Left4dead (Day of Defeat servers) great work dude. I have been playing the Ville alot on you guys DODL4dead and I love it. Last night I played the Zombie side instead of the Allieds , like I normally do and I love it. My son watches me alot when I play and can't wait until I get his PC up and running. He watch me last night play the Zombies, Witches and so on. We could not stop laughing. Good Job and great work you guys doing :wink: Keep it up.

So it's gonna take a little while longer!
The waypointing takes about 2 hours now instead of 10 minutes
:D
I have Flash done and most of Donner. Just need to add a few more detours (new features where a stuck bot can move around sandbags to get to the enemy).

So the Bots have received a new AI upgrade.
It means they don't bang into walls as much and they can go through doors and arches.
It also means they run from spawn and they don't teleport as much, any more.

It also means they are easier to kill so I have some tweaking to do.

In the meantime, I have removed limits on the Special Infected to see if 4 Grey Dudes or 4 Witches affects the game! When I left it this afternoon, Allies were killing bots like crazy.

A couple of other updates:
-- picking up a Box of Nades will replenish Molotovs, if you have them
-- Zombies can pick up Zombie Blood for full health or Pills to add small amounts of health.
-- Walking over One shot ammo without a rifle does nothing
-- Bot Zombies scream when they get close to you
-- Anarchist skulls respawn quicker
-- Grey Dude can teleport zombies faster

And to all those people who may whine about increasing Zombie abilities...they have a spade...

I'll be giving it a go in the morning. :clap:

Also bullets fly farther than a spade! So they can get over it.

I played last night on you DODs bot server and I was very impressed at how well they play. I would like to know, how to get bots like this so I can play DODs in offline mode.

If you want bots like the ones on TheVille.org's site then in addition to that you need to spend weeks and weeks programming and tweaking the bots as well.

Just to add to Giz's comment...you can't play in offline mode properly, any more, since VALVe disabled client side plugins, unless you run in -insecure mode.
So the best way is to set up a server and play that way.

The bots plugin will be released in the future.
The Left4DoD plugin is TheVille's and will not be released.

Ok thanks for the info. I'll just keep playing on the bot server from time to time, it's kind of fun. maybe some day someone will make a bot pack that is easy to install. Nice job though. I was surprised last night to find a server that had bots that actually worked, it got me a bit excited, and I just thought I would do more research, and found your website. Keep up the good work. Dog.......:>0

Updated the waypoints for Ava and Argie.
The bots were getting stuck in spawn since Dog (<-- idiot) forgot some spawn points.
People then started saying "where are the bots?". They were there, but stuck.

So I wrote this dinky wee routine that highlights all the spawn points for the waypointer so I didn't miss any.

Ava is a bugger to waypoint, so let me know how it works out.

They were better on Argy, very clever and also I dont know if you have done anything on anzio but they seemed smart on there. They were actually going through the meat house and in to the courtyard from that way which I have never seen them do before.

I noticed they were easier to kill tonight and seemed a bit slower, have you tweaked them or the weapons at all ?
