spawn cvars = should be a cap out on kalt now

hey dog, i was asking about maps, and if iremember right, you said the zombie bots usse the same way points as dods bots? if so i have found that coach from saw has done some maps.

Yeah I saw those maps Coach supplied.
Let me try Harrington. I'm not sure how it will work with the Zombies, but I'll give it a go and see.
The deal is, we can throw ONE custom in the rotation.
We can then change the custom around every so often. Maybe use Drizz for a month.
One of the reasons of the popularity of L4DoD is the lack of customs to download.
People are prepared to download 50Mb+ of L4DoD files but not the maps! Go figure!
As for orange maps...they are fine for arena style mods like the other Zombie Mod with its human v human. But with bots, orange maps lose that scary feeling and I'm all for creating the look and feel.
If I could figure out ways of scaring the pants off people, I'll do it

Yea I dont know how it is in the US and Canada but most Aussie/Kiwi players already have all the custom maps haha
Like whatmee said the popular ones are on the major servers already so most people wouldnt need to download.
However Im happy for one at a time, will be a nice change and I can find some more hidey holes

yeah harrington lennon and santos_b3 most people should have already as they are the most popular custom maps that people in australia play all the time... but seeing new maps would be good

For a map to be considered for Left4DoD, it has to have:
1. Fog - Harrington has very bad atmospherics and thus would not be possible to use
2. Twenty spawn points on Axis - the Zombies will go into spectate and stay there, so we need a minimum of 20 to prevent that. It's why Palermo won't go on Versus mode. You can use EntEd to see if a map has 20 spawn points.
Other than that, I'll look around.

I loved dod_saints, and I wonder how santos would work in l4dod...
(I can always try to decompile and add spawn points to a map, no guarantee it'll work though.)

And that would defeat the purpose since we don't people downloading the map if they already have it. I like to mod the map with the plugin, not create a new version of it.
Maybe at some point in the future when I get more time (looking like May/June), I'll add spawn points via the plugin....we'll see.
A lot of my favourite maps were borked because the authors were too lazy to add 4 more spawn points (like the official stocks)

there was a program for hl1 maps called ripent, which gave you a text file, of entities.
and since most entities were serverside on maps, no download was necercery.
if i remember right.
so is there a version of ripent or other type program that does this for hl2 maps.

This is one of the best mods i have palyed on a game, even better than some zombie mods on counter strike, great work!.
