map time limit

May I ask what the time limit per map is? Is it the normal 30 minutes most ville servers have, or is it something different?

Also it seems that a lot of the network variables (cl_updaterate, cl_cmdrate, etc) are limited by the server. the first two seem to be forced at 33. Is this normal?

45 mins as run by The Ville in olden days.

Everything is up for change. Don't forget this is a beta and we are running the servers as best we can and it will take several weeks before we find the settings that fit us and our needs.

Also, I should say that VALVe have only released five or six CVARs that are TF related...the rest may or may not come, e.g. class restrictions.

They are both set as 66 tick so your cl_updaterate should be set to 66 and cl_cmdrate should be 30, depending on your connection...YMMV

I actually like to lower my update rate to 20 or ten. comcast doesnt like anything higher.

I dont mind the 45 minutes, but the rounds are too short on time. Maybe just have 5 rounds or something where theres a better chance at winning a game, heck even 3 would be enough.

SD being a tad longer would be better IMO.

I thought each of the three game modes had its own timing structure, and each have different time limits, right???

Not sure, I just remember wars on command point games like warpath and with the timer like it is, its too short.

The thing is, we are using the default settings of the server. The only thing we have changed is the sudden death timer which instead of 4 mins is two mins. It's experimental and we can change it back, easily.

Round times....hmmm that seems to have changed in the recent update....we haven't touched those, and besides, there's no CVAR for it yet..

I wasnt really directing it at the server ops, just talking openly about the timelimits themselves. I hadn't even looked on mine yet to see if they could be changed till a little bit ago. Hopefully though, they can make it a cvar.
