Pyro?

Post by DeafOfficeWorker » Wed Sep 05, 2007 8:29 am

I love playing spy in TFC...but the TF2 Pyro looks like a lot of fun.

I don't know...Pyro might be where it's at. :onfire: :ville: :icon_heart:

The fire effects sure have gotten an upgrade since TFC.

I want to try the Medic too. Never played much Medic in TFC.

I love the propane tank attached to the bottom of the flamethrower. I never really played pyro much either, but he looks like a lot of fun in TF2, so does the Spy. I'm more use to the Engineer or HW. I usually always play an engineer when I play. Its just something about the engineer, I love building things.

I played all the classes except spy, but I loved the pyro when the team didn't need me anywhere and I could just burn people FIRE FIRE MUAHHAAHAAA!! Imagine that though, a fireman that like to play the pyro :?

I agree too, the graphics look sweet in that pic and have come a long way since the early days.

I'm gonna give every class a fair shot. From what I've been reading, the game is all about teamplay. Which means you gotta pick the class that your team needs. For example, if you have an HW but no medic, you should prolly choose medic. Especially if the other team has that combo already in effect.... you get the point. Im gonna do my best to spend equal time on all the classes so I can be a positive factor for my team.

IDK, I have my doubts though...
-no nades or secondary nades
-cartoony characters
-a heavy emphasis on team play makes it hard when playing with new faces.

I couldnt play pyro that well, but I know Ive died from those dang incendiary bombs he had millions of times.

Medic was cool with the concs n all, but not enough firepower for me. And trying to heal someone in the middle of a fire fight was usually just a suicide mission.

I've always played engy, and when I couldnt be productive as engy Id revert to soldier.

Sorry, I digressed... It looks like all the classes will be fun. I just hope the game has enough intensity to keep my attention.

Oh, it will be intense. At least on the Ville. :ville: :ville: :ville: :ville: :ville: :ville: :ville: :ville: :ville:

Like I said, even if vALVE doesn't give in to the fans, someone will have a grenade mod out in a matter of weeks. Bet on it. Oh Dooooggggg.....

Itll be interesting to see what they made available for the TF2 Software dev kit. Im gonna start working on a map as soon as they make the SDK available.

I think you're prolly right DOW about the nades. But itll prolly have to done with some funky work-around to fake the nades. Which means they prolly wouldnt count towards scores and stats etc.

Is that supposed to be an in-game screeny?

Man someone must be runnin it on the NASA super computer if it is.

anyway, here's the pyro's stats for anyone who hasnt done their homework.

...and an in game screeny

Image

Pyro
Primary Weapon: Flamethrower
Secondary Weapon: Shotgun
Melee Weapon: Fire Axe

Valve: The nastiest class to run into when turning a corner. The Flamethrower produces a massive amount of damage over a short range, making the Pyro the most lethal close-quarter class there is. Pyros are often seen playing a defensive role near the front line, ambushing enemies as they enter tight spaces. On Offense, they're terrific at harassing the enemy's defense, since it's hard to maintain a solid Defensive line when you're on fire.

Unlike his weak TFC counterpart, the TF2 Pyro is by far the deadliest class in close quarters combat. His Flamethrower can turn a Heavy with full health into toast in a matter of seconds. All it takes is a small puff of flame to Ignite an enemy, causing them to lose health rapidly and be turned into ash fast if they don’t reach a pool of water. However, he has incredibly short range and is pretty much the up and close “melee” class of the game. His prowess in ambushing makes him a nightmare for any class that unfortunately turns a corner to meet him. He is slightly faster than the other classes (besides the Scout) and can’t take anymore punishment than a Demoman. Also, water hates him.

Strengths:
• The most lethal close quarters class in the game.
• Good speed considering his necessity to get up close and personal.
• Lighting enemies on fire will usually cause them to panic and retreat.
• Extremely deadly in interiors.
• Works well on both Offense and Defense.
• Good at breaking stalemates by temporarily crippling the enemy defense.
• Shotgun allows for a little boost if the flamethrower can’t reach them.

Weaknesses:
• Terrible at mid and long range combat.
• Extremely vulnerable while outside.
• Water makes his flamethrower useless.

The TFC pyro was definitely weak IMHO, but you can't beat fire and infections for plain ol' harassment of the enemy.

I never liked the pyro rocket launcher in TFC. However, it was a lot of fun setting people on fire.

I can't wait... :onfire: :bad-words:

The TF2 pyro looks like a lot more fun than the TFC pyro. That will be one of my first choices for classes when it comes out. 8) :onfire:
