tf2 on linux help

want to find the best way to get the linux item with out damaging my computer. not very good @ behind the scenes stuff on the computer. dont want to download the wrong stuff and ruin my setup. any help on the best way to install it and get the item would be much appreciated. chaffe

You can just install it alongside Windows and then uninstall it when you are done. Personally, I'm doing this on my old laptop, but should be fine on any PC.

You can install Linux on a virtual machine and run TF2 in there. You just need something like VMware.

BEWARE! Make sure you use the 32 bit version of ubuntu. Steam only has a 32 bit version.

I'm running Debian on a VM box. Runs fine. Used Iceweasel to goto steam, clicked the download button and it gave me steam_latest.deb. sudo dpkg -i steam_latest.deb and poof, steam installed. That's all I've done so far.

Got steam installed on ubuntu on my old laptop. The game failed to start, but I still got my item!
