big tf2 update

Post by Dirty Dan » Fri Dec 17, 2010 8:03 pm

I cannot keep up with this game!

Team Fortress 2
Added Medieval Mode, a game mode where players are restricted to using olde weapons.
'Your Eternal Reward' changes:
Spies can now change their disguise weapon via 'lastdiguise' while using 'Your Eternal Reward'
Already-disguised 'Your Eternal Reward' Spies are no longer forced to switch to displaying the melee weapon when they make a kill
Spies no longer play speech lines when making a kill with 'Your Eternal Reward'
Sentries no longer track 'Your Eternal Reward' Spies after they backstab someone
'Natascha' changes:
Spin-up time increased.
Slowdown-on-hit effect is reduced over distance.
Added 'The Medi-eval Medic', 'The Hibernating Bear', and 'The Expert's Ordnance' item sets.
Added new weapons: 'The Claidheamohmor', 'The Back Scratcher', 'The Boston Basher', 'The Fists of Steel', 'The Amputator', 'The Crusader's Crossbow', 'The Ullapool Caber', 'The Loch-n-Load', 'The Buffalo Steak Sandvich', 'The Brass Beast', 'The Warrior's Spirit', 'The Candy Cane', and 'The Jag'.
Added 20 new hats.
Added a prototype item testing map, and associated functionality, for contributors to test their work. Further details in an upcoming blog post.
Spies can now see TargetID's of players and objects regardless of their own disguise status.
Fixed some speech lines continuing after the speaker changes class
The Spy 'Sap Auteur' achievement now increments in cases where the Spy was the assister in the building destruction.
Fixed the arrow burning effect getting stuck on if you changed class in a respawn room with your arrow lit.
Fixed a Flamethrower bug that allowed players to rapidly fake the Pyro's airblast effect.
Throwing the Jarate or Milk now returns you to your previous weapon, instead of your Primary.
Added leaderboard to track duel wins.
Added ability for players to donate money directly to the creators of their favorite community maps.
Increased backpack size by 100 slots.

Hmm. Medieval mode is not what I thought it would be.

I see mention of a Festive Key, but no clear outline on how to get one.

Probably have to buy one at the store...

I'm just upset because I played a fair bit Wednesday and Thrusday, so I think I'm already close to my cap on item drops. Now I won't be able to find any of the new items this week.
Valve should reset the item drops when they release an update. :(

figures. I finally get the medic hat/mask combo I've been after for months, and they release a medic helmet that is way too cool to pass up.
fear no darkness.

I'm pleased to see that, although there are new item sets with set bonuses, none of the sets require a hat, so it should actually be possible to get the set bonuses without having to buy the hat for huge prices.

I might buy 1 key but I'm definitely buying a freight stamp. I love that map too much not to contribute a little.

BZ is right, a Festive Key is the same old $2.49. No mention on the Wiki yet as to the contents.

On another interesting note, you can now buy a "Backpack Expander" for $4.99 which will add another 100 slots to your backpack. Maximum cap per backpack is 1,000 spaces. I guess this removes any chance of another free backpack expansion. It'll cost us hoarders to keep more items.

Check out the Mann Co Store in game to see a fair amount of the new items.

Any chance of getting the Event Server or TV2 turned into a Medieval server for the event?

Have no fear! I've spent $15 on festive keys and recorded the unboxing.

They also give you two more pages in your backpack as part of the update - so 6 total pages now
