Re: The Great Hat Raffle
it seems worthy of being a monthly contest to me.

We're so close! 7 more people is all I need the Scrap from, and the real fun begins!
I'm glad to see such positive feedback, and even the part I figured would be the hardest, the collection, has been going really smoothly. There is a very good chance we will do this again

I couldn't do this every month. I'm new to TF2, and that was the only scrap I had. And I haven't been getting any drops after Wednesday this week, despite it being double drop rate week.

Had a new idea for this if it happens again. How about a variant where everyone puts in a scrap and a guess as to what the hat will be? If they're right, they would get it (first-come, first serve I guess to avoid duplicate guesses), if no one does, it reverts back to the random drawing.

You'll start getting duplicates fairly soon (either after you get more item drops, or through achievements) - it shouldn't be too long before you'll be able to craft a scrap a month from extra items, or by trading crates for scrap.Marf wrote:I couldn't do this every month. This is also a pretty sweet idea.Plinko wrote:Had a new idea for this if it happens again. How about a variant where everyone puts in a scrap and a guess as to what the hat will be? Maybe we can find a way to do this with class specific hats? It would require more metal and a class token, but I'm sure we can get plenty of interested Villuns.

But there are more than 27 hats and you can create a random hat, or select a random class token for it.

I am not sure how that's an improvement. There are only 9 classes, plus crafting a class hat uses more resources than a random.

I'd rather just keep it a lotto.

Unfortunately achievement weapons are un-tradable now. So while you can still craft them the resulting metal is also un-tradeable, etc. Better just to keep these as your personal copy of that weapon and craft away all the duplicate drops.gator wrote:or through achievements

And the results are in!
After collecting all the scraps, the hat crafted together was...Bloke's Bucket Hat!
A quick trip to Random.org drew the number 11...which means Zork Nemesis is the proud owner of a new hat
Congratulations to Zork, better luck next time to everyone else, and I hope a good time was had by all. Keep watch for the signups for Round Two, which could start anytime!

Re: The Great Hat Raffle
I already had this hat, so I traded it off to my brother for a crate and some 'A Color Similar to Slate' paint. I got a junk weapon from the crate so now I feel like I kinda squandered my winnings, especially since I got another duplicate hat (Trophy Belt) later in the night.

This is hard to be cool and suave while being informative at the same time. Goddamn my coolness.
In my experience, common sense isn't too common.
