Hi Kate, happy new year!

If I were you I would play em both! lol if you got time...

As far as HL1, play until you get stuck and frustrated, then look it up in a walk through. Dont forget to listen to all the scientists, they tell you clues.

HL2 is an awesome game. I still haven't finished it yet  Im not that big on single player games. But the story and graphics are very nice so I would tend to play HL2 more.

...and Dark Mesiah is an other cool single player but like I said in the past, the load times kill the flow of gameplay
but i'm scared of the monsters

I too am playing through HL1 again, for the fourth time at least. Its a great game, its nice to get back to your roots once in awhile. Amazingly as much as the graphics suck now...the story is still awesome.

Well, Ive been getting back into this game...

It looks awesome at 2560x1600, even though I cant run at full detail.

After spending 30+ hours on it, Id say its worth its weight in cash. It has some cheesy story line cut scenes but the gameplay is really fun after you build up some experience and skill. The AI are really smart and they talk smack to you, its hilarious actually.

I dug Dark Messiah, played it through once and my only real complaint is that I tried like crazy to play a "mage" type character. It was pretty worthless though, I ended up being more melee even though I had a huge amount of spell power.

So, I'd give it a 7 or 8 out of 10. If I were to play it again I'd just go straight melee with enough magic for the heal spell (the only really worthwhile one).

Didn't go the stealth route at all, but I imagine it's along the lines of the magic route, sorta nifty but ultimately worthless. :)

I just found the install disk that came with my video card last week. Fun game. MP seems unpolished, but its good.

Kate, i have to profess my undying love for you for having a scene from Equilibrium in your sig (none of my friends know what that movie is).

I have played a lot of the games from the Might and Magic and Heroes of Might and Magic series'. I prefer the Heroes of M&M personally, but there were a few great M&M games out there. Would anyone be able to tell me if this one is a 1person game? In the sense that there is one person that you control? In some of the past ones you controlled a whole party, and that kind of killed it for me.

Thanks Dog! From the sounds of it, it kinda sounds like Two Worlds, which I have been playing off and on for a while, I may have to do some research and maybe pick it up!
