I would save up for a polycount hat. They actually give bonuses and I'm sure you can find somebody willing to trade two decent hats for it.

I've taken a shotgun approach and am using everything. TF2Items, this forums, this wiki, the steam forums, sometimes a little reddit... I managed to trade off 3 of my polycount weapons for reclaimed metal. Which is how I got most of them in the first place until I caved and bought the polycount pack.
